The Port of Aarhus becomes part of another direct route to Asia with Maersk's largest container ships

The port of Aarhus will once again receive a weekly visit by a mainliner from Maersk, some of the company's largest container ships.
Because Mærsk, together with its alliance partner Hapaq-Lloyd, has decided to add the Port of Aarhus as a stop on the direct mainliner route between Europe and Asia.
The extension of the route to Aarhus has already been partially in use for some months, but from week 35 it will become a regular weekly call to the container terminal in Aarhus.
“I’m pleased that we can once again welcome some of Maersk’s largest container ships in the world to Aarhus – now as a stop on a direct route between Europe and Asia. This strengthens our connections to the world and provides new opportunities for the business community, which ultimately benefit us all. But it also comes at a time when global supply chains are under pressure, and here I’m proud that Aarhus is once again demonstrating its contribution to supply security both locally and globally,” says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO at the Port of Aarhus.
In addition, the Port of Aarhus will also become a new intermediate station for containers going to and from Poland on a so-called shuttle route. On shuttle routes, a ship travels with few stops on a shorter route to be the link to the rest of the route network.
“We’re excited to welcome both the mainliner service from Maersk and the new shuttle to Poland at APM Terminals Aarhus. We’ve had a strong start to the year, repeatedly surpassing our productivity benchmarks in container handling. That’s only possible because we continue to demonstrate that our terminal in Aarhus is highly efficient and competitive, capable of adapting to rising volumes,” says Mikael Gutman, Director of APM Terminals Nordics.
In the future, both Mærsk and the Swiss-Italian shipping company MSC will now offer direct routes between Aarhus and Asia with their respective container ships.
