A Workplace of Great Importance to Denmark

At the Port of Aarhus, there are good development opportunities and varied tasks. We believe in freedom with responsibility and do everything we can to create a good working environment.

Today, the Port of Aarhus has 110 employees. As a workplace, we bring together many different educational backgrounds and specialist skills, giving us a broad expertise. Here, everything from craftsmen, service personnel, and engineers to maritime and administrative staff work together across departments and competencies to solve tasks for the benefit of our customers, partners, and all of Denmark.

We see our broad expertise as a strength, enabling us to collectively tackle the various tasks we encounter in our everyday work – both the planned and unforeseen, of which there are plenty in a port.

"It's fantastic to be part of a workplace that is so crucial to the whole of Denmark. There is a great diversity among colleagues at the port. But even though we are so different, there is a strong sense of community, and I also see that a lot is done to ensure a good working environment."

— Dorthe Rasmussen, Customer Coordinator at the Port of Aarhus

"I am very happy with my colleagues because they always ensure that you are seen and participate in many different tasks. There are never two days that are the same. And I learn a lot from the great responsibility I am given. It's amazing to work at the port because it's huge. I just think the workplace is a great place to be, and I am always surprised by the size of the port."

— Kristian Krogh, crane operator at Aarhus Havn

"The Port of Aarhus is a very special workplace. I think it is extremely rewarding to meet so many different people with vastly different backgrounds. Some are skilled workers, some have a long higher education, and others have something entirely different. It creates a good dynamic that makes me look forward to going to work – even in the middle of the night in pouring rain."

— Peter Munkebo Byriel, port assistant at the Port of Aarhus

Recruitment Process

All applications must be sent through our online recruitment system. This allows us to register and process all applicants equally, comply with the Data Protection Act, and ensure that all applications are kept confidential and can be deleted at the end of the recruitment process.

To ensure involvement in the recruitment of new colleagues, we always appoint an assessment committee consisting of both managers and employees, who together review the applications. As an applicant, this means that you can get a better sense of who we are and who you will be working with, as your closest colleagues are the best ones to tell you about everyday life at the Port of Aarhus.

As part of the recruitment process for the second interview round, we typically use a DiSC® Workplace profile.

Internship or Thesis Collaboration?

We often have training programs for electricians and crane operators. See if there is a vacant trainee position in your field under "vacant positions.

"Are you a student looking for a company to collaborate with on a thesis or seeking an internship or trainee position? Then feel free to contact us to learn more. We have collaborated with students from the Engineering College, VIA University College, and Aarhus BSS, among others.
