Work begins on 430-metre new quay in Aarhus

430 meters of new quay is on its way to the port of Aarhus. Construction of the project, which has been approved by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority, will begin this week.

This week marks the start of the completion of the Omniterminal at the Port of Aarhus. This happens when MT Højgaard Danmark goes into the water and places the first steel plates for what will end up being 430 meters of new quay.

Establishment of the new quay has been approved by the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority and is one of the last steps to completing the Omniterminal, which has been underway for many years.

It is a bit of a milestone for us that we can now start construction on the final stage of the Omniterminal. The quay facility a crucial element in securing another attractive area at the port, which I am of course delighted that we have already leased out. With the plans for a new container terminal, we provide space for more opportunities for business, strengthen security of supply and, not least, create jobs for the benefit of Aarhus and the whole of Denmark,

says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO of the Port of Aarhus.

The spin must be inserted from the jack here.

The upcoming quay facility has been designed in a new way that reduces the consumption of concrete without compromising on robustness. In this way, the CO2 emissions of construction are reduced compared to traditional quay construction.

In addition, the quay is being built so that it is ready to set up shore power plants for the container ships immediately.

The 430 metre new quay with a water depth of 14 metres is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
