Denmark's largest commercial port adjusts expectations after solid results in the first half of 2025

The first half of 2025 has been marked by great global unpredictability, which has affected world trade and sent shifts in global supply chains. This has also been felt in Aarhus.
- I am delighted that, together with the companies, we managed to deliver a very satisfactory result in the first six months of the year, which have been characterised by global unpredictability. This has put great demands on us, APM Terminals, which operates the container terminal, and not least the many people who work everyday to secure the supply, says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO of Port of Aarhus.
After the first six months of 2025, the Port of Aarhus has achieved a revenue of DKK 186 million with an EBIT of DKK 52 million. The total result is DKK 48 million. This causes the Port of Aarhus to revise up its expectations for the year's overall result by DKK 23 million.
- The economic growth must be seen in particular in the light of the container turnover, which in the first six months of the year has increased by more than 13 percent. Our already strong route network has been expanded with new routes and ships at the same time as the geopolitical situation sends more containers to Aarhus, and we increasingly see that Aarhus is an important hub for container cargo to the rest of Europe, explains Thomas Haber Borch.
During the first six months of the year, several new container routes to and from Aarhus have been introduced. This applies, among other things, to the two direct connections to and from Asia from MSC and Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd respectively. In addition, Maersk has introduced several new connections and the shipping company CMA CGM has introduced a new route connecting to and from the Baltic region.
